Where's My Payment?

This article walks you through how to track your payment on Wingspan and what to do if something looks off.

Step 1: Check your payout eligibility

Before any payment can reach you, you'll need to have completed your onboarding to-dos. Check your dashboard for any outstanding items. You can also navigate to Get Paid → Clients → Requirements to see if there are any action items for you to complete.

Some items require review by Wingspan or your payer before they're cleared — your dashboard will show those too. Once everything is complete, move to Step 2.

Step 2: Find your invoice and check its status

All invoices sent to you through Wingspan live on your Invoices page. Search or scroll to find the one you're looking into.

Don't see your invoice? It hasn't been imported into Wingspan yet. Payers control when invoices are submitted, and most run regular payroll cycles. If it's urgent, reach out to your payer directly.

Invoice statuses

Once you've located your invoice look at the Status column. The status of your invoice will tell you a lot about when to expect your payment or any steps that are outstanding before a payment can processed to you.

Now that you've identified the status of your invoice, find the matching status below to learn about the status of your payment.

Awaiting Client

Your invoice is waiting on an action from your payer — approval, payroll processing, or both. Once they act, Wingspan will send your payment.

Next Steps

✅ Await your client (payer's) action. Most clients run regular cycles of payroll or approval.

🟡 If an "Awaiting Client" invoice is past it's due date or you have questions about its status, please reach out to your payer directly.

In-progress

Your invoice has been approved and is queued for payment on its due date. Your payout is on its way to you.

  • For standard payouts, your payment will arrive on the due date.

  • For instant payouts, your payment will arrive within 1 hour.

Next Steps

✅ If your invoice is not due yet, please await the due date of your invoice for its arrival.

🟡 If the due date of your invoice has passed and your invoice remains in the in-progress status reach out to our support team.

Deposited

Your payment has been sent. This means it's left Wingspan — not necessarily that it's arrived at your bank yet.

Next Steps

✅ If it hasn't yet been 3 days for a standard payout or 1 hour for an instant payout please keep waiting.

🟡 If your standard payout hasn't arrive after 3 business days or if your instant payout hasn't arrived after 1 hour:

  • Check your email for messages from Wingspan indicating a failed or rejected payout and follow the steps in this article if so.

  • If you haven't received an error email, read on to step 3 below.

Action Required

Something's missing — a payout method, a signature, or another incomplete requirement.

Next Steps

✅ Check your dashboard to review and complete your to-dos. Once done your payout will process out in your payer's next payroll cycle.

🟡 If you've completed your to-dos, or there are no to-dos and your invoice remains in the action required status reach out to our support team for help.

Off-platform

Your payer recorded this payment as made outside of Wingspan — typically to account for a payment made before they started using Wingspan, for tax reporting purposes.

Next Steps

❓ If you have questions about this payment, contact your payer directly. Wingspan wasn't used for this transaction and can't provide additional details.

Step 3: Tracking A Deposit

If your invoice shows Deposited but the payment hasn't arrived within the expected window:

  1. Open the invoice from your Invoices page

  2. Scroll to the All Activity section and note the payout initiated date

  3. Scroll up to the Total section and confirm the destination — make sure you're checking the right bank account or your Wingspan Wallet

If it's still missing after checking these, contact support and we'll track it down.

💡 Reminder: the deposited status only means that a payout was sent to you, not that it has yet been received.

  • Domestic (US) standard payouts typically arrive in 1-2 business days

  • Global standard payouts typically arrive in 1-3 business days

  • Instant payouts typically arrive in minutes, but can take up to 3 hours to arrive
