Using Pebl Contractor Management's invoicing system, you can create and send invoices to your clients, allowing them to send payments through the platform with ease.
Visit our guide to the Invoices dashboard for more information on invoices.
Please note that many clients manage all invoicing themselves and do not permit contractors to create their own invoices. However, some clients do allow or request that contractors generate their own invoices. Please refer to your Client on best practices for invoices.
Create An Invoice
To create a new invoice, navigate to your Invoices dashboard and click the Create invoice button at the top right:
Client Assignment
Contractors may receive payments from multiple clients, so they'll need to select the client they're submitting the invoice to.
Work Summary
Enter a description of the work and the amount that is owed.
When you add a reimbursable expense to your invoice, check the reimbursable box on that line item.
You may add additional work items to more clearly define completed work and amounts owed.
Contractors
In most cases, we don't recommend using this section — it doesn't apply to the typical use case. Contractors should skip it rather than adding subcontractors to their invoices for payout splits.
To proceed with invoice creation, click Next at the bottom of the Create invoice screen. You can also Save as draft and exit to keep the invoice as a draft without sending it
Other
On the invoice creation page, you can optionally add a project name and notes. To include attachments, click the Attachment button — some clients require these for invoice submission and some do not.
Invoice Timing and Payment Options
Due:
Contractors have the option to select when an invoice is due, however their selection may not align with a client's existing payroll schedule. Selecting "on receipt" is acceptable in most cases. If a contractor inputs a specific due date, they should always ensure the due date is in the future. We also recommend that a contractor aligns their due dates with their client's existing payroll schedule, where possible.
Send:
You can select Immediately to send the invoice as soon as it is created, or select On and enter a specific calendar date for the invoice to be delivered to the client.
Additional Settings
In most cases, a contractor will not need to adjust any of these settings and this section can be skipped.
Repeat this invoice automatically
This option is used in very specific cases where a contractor may receive a flat rate payment each month. Instead of creating each invoice every month, they have the option to create a recurring invoice series.
Send Invoice
When your invoice is ready you can click "Send Invoice" to submit it to your client for their approval and payment in an upcoming payroll run based on their existing payroll schedule.
Optionally, you can save this invoice as a draft and come back to it to complete and send at a later date.
Editing A Draft Invoice
Invoices that are saved as a draft can be edited before they are sent to your client. To edit it, open the invoice from your Invoices dashboard and click the menu (⋮). Then select Edit from the drop-down menu:
Editing a draft invoice reopens the original Create invoice screen, where you can update any field except the associated client — just as you did when first creating it. From there, you can send the invoice to the client.
